We wore patriotic scarves from Renee's in honor of President Obama's visit. |
Dear Friends,
President Obama and his entourage visited the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday. He came to console families who lost so much in the Oso mudslide. He also stopped to thank first-responders and those involved in the recovery efforts.
Bill (above middle) meets President Obama. |
My husband Bill had a role in the rescue and recovery (I wrote about it here), so he had the honor of meeting the President.
This Osprey carried some of the Presidential entourage. |
I grabbed a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the President in person. My nephew and his wife Jenna (top photo left) and my friend Julie Geddis (top photo right) went along. The Presidential entourage flew into the Arlington Airport by helicopter.
This is what we saw of the President (above). You can click on the photo to make it bigger. President Obama is wearing a navy blue jacket and khaki pants. His back is to the camera, and he is behind the woman facing the camera. Although the view wasn't much, the arrival of the helicopters was impressive and exciting. I felt honored just to be present.
A young Marine (above) stood guard on the airfield, and saluted folks as they disembarked. He looked official and impressive. He stopped walking his rounds long enough for us to snap a photo.
We took along the flag bag for Michelle, but we didn't see her. |
Our thoughts and prayers remain with those who are still suffering the after effects of the slide. Stop by Renee's to pick up your own patriotic accessories. Just in time for the Memorial Day and Independence Day holidays, our holiday red white and blues are here for you.
With love,
Renee
