Join Us for Small Business Saturday Tomorrow

Did you know "Small Business Saturday" is tomorrow? The designation is intended to remind us that more of the money spent in local small business stays in the community.

It's nice that someone is promoting small business along with the big box "Black Friday" promotions.

Business Editor Mike Benbow at the Herald wrote an article about this special day (and quoted me). You can read the article by clicking on this link:
"Small Business Saturday"

You can also pledge your support for the event on Facebook by clicking here: "Facebook"

Card members can register for $25 credit on their American Express statement so they can get money back for Saturday's purchases here:
"American Express"

I know that many of you care about local products. I have found many brands, both made locally and in the U.S., to bring to you at Renee's.

As I said in the article, Renee's has unique items that are thoughtfully chosen especially for you, our customers.

Thank you for caring about your local small businesses like Renee's! Please stop by when you get a chance. We look forward to seeing you soon! -Renee

Help from a Friend

Sometimes we just need a little help from a friend. My friend Yvonne unexpectedly stopped by Renee's today, just when I needed her most. As usual, she came bearing items for show and tell. She attends fun sales and likes to find unique items, and then she inspires me with her stories and goodies.

Today she told me about an event called Ruffles and Rust that she attended in Monroe recently. She found scarves there made of recycled, soft sweaters, and she brought them in to show me. They were beautiful. I will see if I can contact the artist and bring some into the store for you.

Then she told me about a photo she found on a blog she regularly reads. The author went to Paris in September, and she took photos of clothing displayed in store windows. The lastest big thing is layering. And I mean layer upon layer, from leggings under a skirt to scarves upon scarves. As we talked, I became so inspired I said, "Let's do that in Renee's windows!" She worked her magic, and in no time, the windows were sporting new displays of our most recent arrivals.

Thank you, Yvonne!!! The perfect gift on a perfect day from a good friend; there is nothing better.

Happy Customer Testimonial

Date: Friday, August 20, 2010, 8:20 AM

Hi Renee & Margaret:

I just wanted to thank both of you for all the compliments I got at the APA conference. One of my best friends once said that I always wore the same thing to APA. So, the last 2 years, I’ve tried to “be better.”

On the first day of this year’s conference, I wore the cute blue/plaid sundress with the white sweater that I bought a month or so ago. My friend loved it and asked where I got it. I explained Renee's and how Margaret took me there a year or so ago.

The next day, I wore a black top and black/white skirt that I bought at your store on my first visit. Both top and skirt are “flowy.” The reversible skirt is “silky” and the black top has “J-Lo” (or Cher) sleeves. Again, she loved it.

The third day, I wore the cool tan-capri pant, tan tank, and animal-esque print sweater I bought this spring. She was blown away…loved it.

The fourth day (the last day we dressed nicely), I wore the bright pink/white skirt and pink sweater. Again…she was very impressed. So much so that she said (several times), “When I come to Seattle for the Multi-cultural summit in January…we will go there.” So, we will be there in January…and I will probably e-mail ahead to make sure we arrive at a time you are in the store.

I got compliments everywhere I went. Thanks to you, Margaret, for introducing me to the store. And thanks to you Renee, for all the time you spend in helping me find stuff that looks great. I’ve never been much of a fashionista, and your opinions seem to work very well for me! Lynette
